Left Hander Jordan Norberto, a valued commodity in the A’s 2012 bullpen, was one of five players mentioned in an investigation surrounding Anthony Bosch’s south Florida clinic, according to an ESPN “Outside the Lines” report. The Biogenesis of America clinic, now out of commission, has had numerous allegations in concern to MLB players and distribution of performance enhancing drugs.
Former A’s pitcher Fautino De Los Santos was also named in the investigation, leaving a likely link between the two.
In regard to Norberto, A’s spokesman Bob Rose told Chronicle staff writer Susan Slusser, “We have no comment and are communicating with Major League Baseball.”
The franchise has all the right to be walking on egg shells, however. As in a twist of irony, the ESPN report was released the same day formerly suspended pitcher Bartolo Colon decided to apologize to fans for his recent steroid suspension, also occurring at Biogenesis of America.
