The Atlanta Braves ended the 2012 season with a record of 94-68. They returned to the postseason for the second time in three seasons as a wild card team, but they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in a one-game wild card playoff.
The Braves will return to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., for spring training again this year.
The outlook for the upcoming season is strong. With the additions of the Upton brothers, he Braves will have a young, athletic outfield. B.J. Upton signed a 5-year, free agent contract for a franchise record of $75 million. Soon after signing B.J., the Braves acquired his brother, Justin Upton, and Chris Johnson, both from the Diamondbacks. B.J. Upton will be filling in the much needed centerfield position and Justin Upton will be filling in the absence, left open by a retiring Chipper Jones. Playing right field for the fourth year in a row will be Jason Heyward, who is predicted to have enough experience to make the Braves great this year.
